Youth Group

The Temple Emanuel of the Merrimack Valley Youth Group (TEMVY) is open to Temple teenagers from ages 13 through 18. The group operates under the guidelines of the Northeast Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) and participates in Temple, local, and regional events.

Under the NFTY guidelines, there are four goals in programming events. These goals are to support and provide opportunities for: social interaction and exchange, experiences in Judaism, involvement in charitable works and giving, and fundraising opportunities.

The Youth Group meets monthly and provides ongoing Temple involvement for teenagers. Many of our teens routinely take part in Temple life by participating with other members in activities such as helping out in the Temple and volunteering for the soup kitchen. Older teenagers also have the opportunity to serve as aides and co-teachers in our school, continuing their involvement in Jewish life. Some of the other activities our Youth Group enjoys include outings for pizza and a movie, seeing shows in Boston, regional coffee houses and sleepovers, organizing a Temple-wide coat drive, and taking an end-of-year trip. The involvement of our teen-aged members is yet another feature that makes Temple Emanuel — and them! — special.
